For your sake, I hope you don't have to learn it from me.
[And so she leads them through the city, trusting Larry to follow her. Or... maybe not that much, as she keeps on looking behind her or to her side to make sure that Larry is indeed following and not making a break for it.
Eventually, they come to another park, where there's a clean set of footprints leading away from them. She crouches for a bit, taking out a notebook as she crosschecks the prints against something in her notes, then grins to herself triumphantly upon ascertaining they belong to the culprit.]
Looks like we've found a match. It won't be long now...!
[That was fast. Larry just stuck close to her, not wanting to bolt. Well, if he did bolt, he'd get lost in a twinkling and be in a much worse situation. He bends down to peer at the footprints, careful not to step on any of them.
But he does lift up one of his feet to check the sole of his shoe. It's not a match, and he breathes a sigh of relief.]
[She begins to follow the footprints, though not without continuing on her potentially unwanted explanation of a certain forensic process.]
Or well, that would be the case back in my world. Right now, I have to be satisfied with plaster and careful notes, but before I ended up here, I'd have to say footprint analysis certainly has come a long way! And with digital cameras and the internet on hand, it's become way easier for us to keep databases and cross-check things...
[She will be continuing on this vein for a while, unless Larry would be so kind to stop her, else point something else that'll catch her attention. Like maybe the culprit for instance.]
[Nah, Larry's content to let her ramble on and on. Firstly, he digs smart girls. Second, as long as she's not accusing him of anything or telling him off about the crime scene he ran into, he's good.
But Larry is not Larry if he doesn't let his mouth run, so he blurts out:]
Are there flying cars where you come from? Ever since I was a kid, I've been waiting for 'em to come out!
[Par for the course for Larry, then. Ema's in a clearly better mood after that spiel and is more receptive to Larry's outburst, tapping a finger to her chin thoughtfully.]
There's none of the sort where I'm from. I come from a pretty plain version of Earth, and the most unusual thing I've encountered would be... spirit mediums, I guess.
["Maya Fey"...? Ema's eyes bug out as Larry begins to enumerate certain names--none admittedly that familiar besides the first one, but still, she gets the feeling if she looked over the dossier of Maya that she had for investigation purposes, those names would make sense.
Still... He could've just heard of them, right? Like, maybe met them once and never again in passing as a spirit medium enthusiast, right? Right.]
I wonder if we're from the same world. Or a similar one, perhaps. I've met Maya Fey too, back in Khura'in. She was involved in one of the cases I investigated over there, along with Mr. Phoenix Wright. He's pretty famous around law circles... have you heard of him too?
Larry is suddenly grinning from ear to ear. It's rather comforting to find more people from his world, even if he doesn't know all of them. At least this one is attractive to boot.]
Heard of him? We've known each other since forever...while we were kids!
lmao in what universe
In Larry's inner mind theater
[He shrugs, but takes a few steps forward.]

Spirit...mediums...?
[He lowers his foot and strokes his goatee.]
Whoa, what a coincidence! That's like, the only weird thing in my world too!
no subject
[Ema likewise pauses in her tracks to frown at Larry. Of all things to say, that certainly is weird...
Could it be...?]
Do you know any of them in person, by chance?
no subject
You bet! Maya Fey, Pearl Fey...even Maya's mom, Misty Fey, but she was using another name when I met her...Maya's older sister probably was one, too.
They're not just a beautiful family, they're also a family of spirit mediums!
